My name is Sittha Sukkasi. I'm a designer and developer, striving to improve lives by developing design-driven solutions that are insightful and creative.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Brown University, and a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in the United States. At MIT, I conducted research in design methodologies, trained in product development, and assisted in teaching a product engineering course. I now work at MTEC, a national research center in Thailand.
I have led and contributed to numerous design and development projects. Notable examples include an innovative device for treating drinking water in poor areas (as part of UpWater project), a high-performance solar dryer, upcycled furniture from scrap materials, interactive art installations, tools for connectedness in aging societies, and a monitoring platform for cancer patients. I have also developed commons-oriented and environment-community-human-oriented design processes. In addition, I enjoy working on multimedia design, including graphics, websites, brand identities, and travel videos.
My work has been published in academic peer-reviewed journals, presented at international design conferences and exhibitions, and recognized by organizations such as Grand Challenges Canada.
